Maximum grant available for comedy or spoken word performances:  $500 

The standard expenses for comedy and spoken word events are publicity, including programs; props; and costumes. 

Each registered student comedy/spoken word group may apply for no more than one CPA award per semester. This one award may be used to support multiple on campus performances in the same semester.

CPA-sponsored projects may not charge admission/entrance fees. 

Projects (performances, exhibitions, screenings) must be presented to the community no later than the first Saturday of reading period. 

Maximum grant available for concerts:  $500 

Up to $1,000 additional funding may be allotted to secure legal rights to perform a concert (additional funds will be awarded only as needed for actual costs).   

The standard expenses for concerts are payment for rights; the purchase of parts; and publicity, including programs. Proposers should consult the Yale Music Library before purchasing parts.

Maximum grant available for dance performances:  $1,000  

The standard expenses for dance events are costumes and publicity, including programs.  

Dance groups should plan to retain costumes for use in future semesters. Storage is available at the Undergraduate Production/Alliance for Dance At Yale Costume Collection

Each registered student dance group may apply for no more than one CPA award per semester. If a dance group is charging admission for a production, that group is not eligible for a CPA award for an additional production that semester.

Maximum grant available for plays and musicals: $1,200  

Additional funding of up to $1,000 may be allotted to secure legal rights to perform a play or musical (additional funds will be awarded only as needed for actual costs).  

The standard expenses for plays and musicals are scenic materials; props; costumes; rights to perform; and publicity, including programs.              

Directors and teams for all productions should think creatively, act with respect to the environment, and work with fiscal responsibility when purchasing props. Please read these suggestions regarding props here and speak with your sponsoring college regarding post-production recycling, usage, or storage of props prior to making purchases.

Maximum grants available for publications: 

$500 one-time support grant for handmade and self-published books showcasing literature or the arts  

$500 one-time start-up funding grant for a magazine or publication.  

$1,200 per year on an ongoing basis for a college’s designated arts and/or literary magazine 

The applicant must include a narrative highlighting the value of the publication for showcasing literature or the arts.  

The applicant must include a detailed printing budget in their application, with all publication costs, including the number of copies to be printed not exceeding 300 copies.  

Preference will be given to collaborative projects and books that feature the work of two or more contributors. Yearbooks or Facebooks are not eligible. Old publications recycled under new names or publications that do not enhance the arts are not eligible.

Maximum grants available for video and film projects: 

$500 for a non-thesis video or film 

$1,200 for a thesis film in Film and Media Studies

Applicants may include a budget item of up to $200 for film festival entry fees, provided the festival is in the greater New Haven area.  

The standard expenses for video and film are rental of recording and camera equipment; props; and costumes.  

Applicants must include a clear plan in their proposal for screening the completed work to an audience from their college.

Projects (performances, exhibitions, screenings) must be presented to the community no later than the first Saturday of reading period. 

Maximum grant available for visual arts projects:  $500  

Funded exhibitions should be exhibited in the applicant’s college or in a relevant cultural center 

Visual art projects requiring the construction of structures that will support people, be over people, or that are over 4 feet in height are prohibited. 

Visual art projects must be designed to be created in residential college art spaces. Studio and shop spaces at the Schools of Art and Architecture are only available to students enrolled in designated courses in those majors.
